Allen Huang

Episode #4: The value of passion and consistency

This week, I’m chatting with Allen Huang, a current Oral Maxillofacial resident at Keck Medical Center of USC. He attended UCSD for his undergraduate degree as well as UCSF for dental school. In this episode, we discuss a number of topics, ranging from Allen’s advice to high school students transitioning into college, how he figured out his system for success, what questions to ask for those students considering the pre-med track and much more.

Allen and I dive deep into what constitutes success– and how your teen can find what works for them.

TUNE IN BELOW:

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT IN THIS EPISODE:

  • How Allen knew dentistry was the career path for him
  • Questions high school students should ask themselves to find their passions, academic majors & perfect careers
  • What aspiring pre-med students ought to consider, and action steps they can take to determine if medical school is truly the path for them
  • Allen’s transition from high school to college & how he overcame his challenges

NOTABLE QUOTE:

``You have to aspire to make a difference, not just make a living.``
``I used to pray for what I have now. So every day I go to the hospital and it’s a struggle, I’m dealing with hard patients or I’m staying for boards, or whatever it is-- I constantly tell myself how lucky I am to be where I am today.``
``Without motivation, you’ll never get started. Without consistency, you’ll never finish.``
