Episode #9: My 5 Biggest College Admissions Takeaways from 2018

As 2018 comes to a close and we begin 2019, I thought it’d be great to share with you my biggest college admissions-related takeaways from the past year.  College admissions is always changing, and there’s a lot we can learn from this past application cycle.

As promised, here are my biggest takeaways:

#1: Students who get accepted into an Ivy League have ONE passion

#2: Focus on one activity and be the best at it (Multitasking is a lie)

#3: Recommendation letters are VERY important

#4: Students with a growth mindset get accepted into Ivy Leagues

#5: Finding your “FIT” should be your #1 priority (not just prestige)

TUNE IN BELOW:

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT IN THIS EPISODE:

  • My five BIGGEST takeaways from the college admissions cycle this year
  • What you can do to incorporate these things into your college application
  • What productivity actually means… and why you shouldn’t multitask
  • How you can get a great recommendation letter
  • The importance of the growth mindset and how you can start cultivating one

NOTABLE QUOTES:

The best essays are the ones that really go in depth as to what they love to do and what excites them. Nothing beats that, really.
If you’re passionate about what makes you happy… then that’s really going to help you stand out.
Multitasking does not exist.
Growth mindset, being who you are… those are the types of students that Harvard and other Ivy Leagues are looking for.
