03 Feb Episode #13: How to be mindful in the college admissions journey w/ Rachael Kable
I’m very excited to share this interview with Rachael Kable, the host of one of my absolute favorite podcasts, The Mindful Kind! Rachael and I talk about about mindfulness, which is especially important for high school students.
We all experience stress, although high school students appear to carry it the most, especially in light of college admissions. Incorporating the easy & tangible mindfulness techniques Rachael mentions can lead to better physical health, attention, memory improvement, stress management, and ultimately– a happier you. It’s so crucial that high school students incorporate a bit of mindfulness into their everyday lives, as the benefits can help them cultivate success.
TUNE IN BELOW:
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT IN THIS EPISODE:
- Rachael’s journey from stress to mindfulness
- What it means to be mindful
- Easy action steps to becoming a more mindful person
- The importance of the growth mindset
- How to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into a busy schedule
One of my favorite mindfulness techniques is actually just mindful breathing. I think it’s a really awesome technique because we can take it anywhere.
I was always thinking outside of the present moment first thing in the morning. I was starting my day off with this feeling of overwhelm and stress.
When you’re at that stage in your life, there’s so much pressure, and yeah it does impact your life in many ways-- a lowered immune system, to depression, to anxiety and stress.
Listen to your needs. If you’re feeling really stressed, then that might be an indicator that you need some self-care.
We continue feeling stress, but the more you can learn to manage it at a younger age, the easier it will be throughout your whole life.
