Episode #80: How 2020 changed college admissions (my honest thoughts)

With everything that has happened so far in 2020, I really wanted to have a heart-to-heart conversation with you on the podcast today to share my honest thoughts on how the college admissions process has been affected this year.

Although there have been many challenges and obstacles for students and institutions to face, there’s also been good that has come from it. For that reason, I’m revealing the positives that have come from this year, along with what I’d like you to focus on moving forward for your college admissions journey and life in general.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN ABOUT IN THIS EPISODE:

  • Why we decided to continue enrolling students into our programs, despite an ongoing global pandemic
  • The reason that canceled extracurricular activities can actually be something that plays into your favor
  • Why there is less emphasis on test prep right now – and what you should be focusing on instead
  • How to make the most of the time you have available right now

NOTABLE QUOTES:

It just goes to show that this is a time when you need to rethink it and re-orient the way that you are navigating your high school years and the college admissions process.
It’s important that this new generation finds a little bit of a different direction as to how to live their lives in a meaningful, purposeful and passionate way.
SAT and ACT exams do not measure the level of student success. It’s not a good predictor.
I am encouraging you and supporting you to live a life that is authentic to yourself, and to use that to get accepted into your dream college.
