  • What kind of candidate Brown is looking for
  • Why Brown can boast about its diversity and versatility
  • How to deal with a black and white kind of world
  • The pros and cons of pursuing a medical degree
  • How you can lessen the amount of unexpected burnout in your future

NOTABLE QUOTES:

My mission is to really help high school students understand that life is not linear; it’s not black and white, but instead it’s filled with lessons.
You have to be happy now, otherwise your external circumstances will not change you.
I know it’s getting evermore harder to get into these colleges, and I think a passion project is definitely one way for you to stand out.
I think the school definitely provides an environment for you to open up to express yourself.
However, one thing that I feel like is really hard to teach is: passion and empathy.
You have to experience it; there’s a clear difference between you watching a Youtube video about it versus you actually interacting with a patient.
It’s not a 400 hundred meter sprint; it is a marathon.
You really have to ground yourself as a high school student and understand what is important to you.
Just because you don’t make it, doesn’t mean that you’re a loser.
You will have multiple opportunities to redeem yourself.
