Episode #109: Applying to College Pre-Med with Dr. Shemmassian

Today we are talking all about pre-med, and I’m so excited to be speaking about this topic with my special guest, Dr. Shemmassian!

If you are interested, or majoring in, biology, chemistry, physics, or anatomy, and your goal is to get into medical school or any other profession that requires you to have a pre-med major, then you’re going to love this episode.

Even if you’re not sure what you want to do (yet), then this episode will be helpful for you, and yes, you can still work on a Passion Project or land a research and intern position without knowledge in these areas!

I invite you to our free training that is going to walk you through how my students got accepted into Ivy League and/or Top-tier colleges. We’ll reveal the strategies to use, and you’ll have an opportunity to enroll in the Passion Project Bootcamp Program, our signature 1-year college consulting program. You can register for the free masterclass at https://juliekimconsulting.com/masterclass.

I’m also excited to announce that we just released a new FREE workbook that you can download to get started thinking about self-exploration and your Passion Project ideas. Go to https://juliekimconsulting.com/workbook to get your copy now!

As always, if you have questions please reach out to our support team at info@juliekimconsulting.com, and I’d love to connect with you on Instagram – I’m at http://instagram.com/julie_kim7.

  • What is so unique about the admissions process for medical schools
  • Dr. Shemmassian’s thoughts on volunteering at hospitals to strengthen your college application
  • The actions steps to take when applying for pre-med schools, for both students and their parents
  • How students can assess if they would be a good fit for a medical program
  • What reservations he has with BS/MD programs
  • How to work on your standout factor in your medical school application
  • The way to get outstanding recommendation letters for your application

It’s not just about doing a bunch of different things and being well-rounded, but much more about developing a speciality.
`{`When volunteering`}`, you always have to consider the richness of an experience.
Sometimes, parents and students over-simplify things when it comes to medical school admissions.
Feel encouraged by it. If you do the right things foundationally, the college admissions process doesn’t change that much.

Getting into Ivy League & Top-tier colleges doesn’t require perfection.

I repeat: You do NOT have to be perfect.

You also don’t have to spend a million hours volunteering, get perfect test scores, or be a star athlete.

What is required is understanding How to STAND OUT.
